Ambré Lumière
50 ml · Rs 11,900
The blend
Most amber fragrances make the mistake of being sweet. Ambré Lumière is warm instead, which is a different thing entirely.
Labdanum and benzoin do the heavy lifting; the vanilla is there to round the edges, not to make it smell like dessert. A thread of incense runs through the middle and keeps it from ever feeling sticky.
This is the bottle that empties fastest in our own house. It works on a Tuesday morning and it works at dinner.

What it smells like
Three stages, in the order you meet them.
Top notes
First 10 minutes
What hits you when you spray. Light molecules, gone quickly.
Mandarin
Soft, sweet citrus — gentler than orange, gone within ten minutes.
Cardamom
Green and slightly cool, the spice you notice before the warmth arrives.
Heart notes
20 minutes to 3 hours
The actual personality of the fragrance. This is what it is.
Labdanum
The real source of the amber glow — resinous, honeyed, a little smoky.
Frankincense
Clean smoke. It keeps the sweetness in check.
Orris
A powdery, suede-like softness that sits between the resin and the vanilla.
Base notes
3 hours until it fades
Heavy molecules that cling to skin. Still there tomorrow morning.
Bourbon Vanilla
Dry, not dessert. Think vanilla pod rather than vanilla icing.
Benzoin
Warm balsam — the reason this smells like skin after a few hours.
Sandalwood
Creamy wood that makes the whole thing feel soft rather than sharp.
How it wears
- Longevity
- 8–10 hours on skin
- Sillage — how far it travels
- Moderate — a warm bubble around you rather than across the room

My everyday now
I wanted something warm that would not smell like dessert and this is exactly it. Works at the office, works at dinner. Already halfway through the 50ml.

Layering is the secret
On its own it is very good. Sprayed under Noir Absolu it is something else entirely — the amber makes the oud much smoother. Highly recommend buying both.

Smells expensive
Comparable to designer bottles at three times the price. The incense in the middle keeps it from being too sweet, which is where most amber scents lose me.
