Five things that make a fragrance last longer

Moisturise first. Dry skin does not hold fragrance. Unscented lotion on the areas you are about to spray will add hours, and it is the single biggest difference you can make for free.

Spray on pulse points, but not the wrists you then rub together. Rubbing crushes the top notes and speeds up evaporation. Spray, and leave it alone.

Aim for skin over clothes. Fabric holds scent longer but it holds only the fragrance's surface — the warmth of skin is what makes the heart and base notes develop.

Store it away from the bathroom. Heat, light and humidity break down perfume oil faster than anything else. A drawer or a cupboard is better than a windowsill or a shelf above the sink.

Do not over-spray to compensate. If a fragrance fades on you, more of it at 9am will not fix that — a small decant carried with you and one spray at 3pm will.
